About The Position

Provides clinical direction for all aspects of patient care in an acute inpatient setting, fostering patient- and family-centered care. Demonstrates clinical competency by applying evidence-based practices and research throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcomes. Incorporates safety protocols, cost containment, quality improvement, and patient, unit, and organizational priorities into care. Follows organizational compliance requirements and policies, including licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance, dress code, confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements and provides care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. The acute inpatient setting may require weekend, holiday, and on-call work. The RN assesses patients, identifies priorities, develops and updates individualized care plans with patients, families, providers, and the interdisciplinary team, and provides direct care consistent with those plans. The RN coordinates and delegates care as appropriate, monitors patient safety and quality, evaluates outcomes, supports patient and family education, documents and communicates pertinent information, and advocates for patients. The role also includes participation in performance-improvement activities and maintaining professional competency and licensure.
