About The Position

This role is for a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. The primary responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing lab results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The position operates under the guidance of the Center Manager for operations and the Center Physician for medical issues. Familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or manufacturing environments is expected, along with supporting environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduation from a recognized educational nursing program meeting state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions occurring at the facility according to SOPs.
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including standing orders from the Center Physician and donor transport to emergency care.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety/eligibility.
  • Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
