Emergency Department - Observation Unit – Registered Nurse RN 1 or 2, Inpatient
About The Position
The University of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Emergency Department Observation Unit. This role is for a new graduate nurse with less than one year of experience, who will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager to build competency in direct patient care. The Observation unit cares for adult patients needing additional observation to determine if the patient's condition is serious enough for admission to the hospital or if the patient can be treated and released home safely. This is a fast-paced environment that turns over 20 to 27 patients per day, with an average length of stay of 27 hours. The unit has 24/7 provider coverage. Flexibility, enthusiasm, and the ability to care for a varied patient population in a changing environment are essential. Effective communication skills are also crucial for this role.
