About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med-Surg department at St. Rita's Medical Center delivers nursing care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses. The role involves assessing patient status, implementing clinical nursing interventions, developing and performing patient care plans to improve outcomes, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team and provides care consistent with state practice requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

• One year of RN experience.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Six months of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• BLS Basic Life Support upon hire; certification must be obtained from an approved source before providing direct patient care. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support is acceptable in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status and condition using organizational and leadership skills.
• Provide care to patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.
• Implement clinical nursing interventions.
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
• Collect vital signs and administer IV medications.
• Understand and complete charting.
• Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice requirements and Mercy Health policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
