The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) at Aurora West Allis Medical Center is a full-time night shift role. The IMCU patient population includes moderately stable patients with an elevated risk for instability, potentially including ICU step-down patients, those on chronic ventilation via tracheostomy, and patients with a higher risk of decompensation. The unit fosters a supportive, collaborative, and teaching culture with a skill mix of experienced staff and new graduates. The typical RN to patient ratio is 1:3-4 during both day and night shifts. The role involves building foundational skills through preceptor-directed orientation, developing expertise in triaging, lab interpretation, pathophysiology, pharmacology, time management, and communication for intermediate acuity patients. The RN will coordinate comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, deliver safe and therapeutic care, and develop collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team. This position offers continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts and emphasizes patient-centered care and team-minded support within a versatile nursing team committed to quality and compassionate healthcare.
