About The Position

The Registered Nurse is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

The unit treats a variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles. The position is at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine, with specialized surgical, imaging, emergency, critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal services.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
• Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
