About The Position

Vighter is recruiting Registered Nurses (RNs) with a Primary Care or Family Medicine background to provide exceptional patient care at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The RN provides the full range of nursing services within the scope of practice for a variety of patient-centered specialties and ensures that all JCO standards for care are met during performance of patient care. RNs provide complex and comprehensive professional nursing services within the professional scope of practice for a variety of diagnoses for patients of all ages. Requirements

• Must have exceptional customer service skills.
• Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.

• Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
• Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience as an RN in the last 2 (two) years.
• Must have and maintain certification in Basic Life Support or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to patient-centered care and evidence-based medicine.
• Ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player.
• Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
• Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
• Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
• Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
• Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
• Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
• Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
• Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
• Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.

Responsibilities

• Provide complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
• Provide patient education on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
• Conducts initial assessment on patients, develop nursing care plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care, document all plans, assessments, and care provided.
• Provide patient and family education through hospitalization.
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including, but not limited to portable dialysis machines, oxygen, hypothermoa units, and various types of suction apparatus, infusion equipment, and patient-controlled analgesia pumps (PCA), epidural pumps, sequential compression devices, hemodynamic catheters, monitors, and ventilators, cardio-respiratory monitors and vital sign monitors.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Maintain highest regard for patient dignity, observe precepts of the AHA's Patient’s Bill of Rights.
• Services shall be provided by established standards, principles and professional ethics, applicable professional specialty organizations and the high standard for which Vighter is recognized.
• All Health Care Providers will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
• Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge of new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
• Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance.
• Occasional schedule flexibility with an end state of 100% staffing and 100% service to the patients.

• Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
