About The Position

The Clinical Nurse works in a 24-bed inpatient Psychiatric Care Unit and Designated Receiving Facility. The unit uses a team approach focused on empowering patients to participate in their treatment and move forward. With an average patient stay of eight days, the nurse supports and facilitates healing in a therapeutic environment.

The Clinical Nurse is an engaged, credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization who practices autonomously according to the professional tenets of practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist, and transferor. The nurse uses the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and continuously monitors and evaluates practice to support safe patient care in the best interest of the populations served.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensed RN with New Hampshire eligibility.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process to assess patients, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan and implement individualized care, and evaluate results.
• Apply critical thinking to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, modifying the plan of care or escalating concerns to the care team as needed.
• Advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent, and help patients and families express self-determination in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics.
• Seek feedback and use it to improve performance; participate in the governance of practice.
• Manage interpersonal relationships with colleagues and others.
• Mentor colleagues to advance nursing practice and the profession.
• Take authority and accountability for patient nursing care and delegate care appropriately in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Prioritize and organize time to optimize patient outcomes.
• Seek current evidence and standards and apply them to daily practice.
• Promote a culture of inquiry and contribute locally to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
• Communicate effectively in a variety of formats and areas of practice.
• Partner with others to effect change and produce positive outcomes through knowledge exchange.
• Precept student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other healthcare team members.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
