About The Position

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support Saddleback Memorial Medical Center strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The RN-Inpatient PD is responsible for providing acute cardiovascular specialized patient care in a safe and effective manner from admission to discharge or inpatient transfer. In addition, this position is responsible for directing unlicensed staff, conducting patient assessments, executing and developing plan of care, communicating post-procedure observation, non-invasive procedure interventions, patient/family teaching, and implementation of treatment plan. Lastly, this position is responsible for executing and documenting physician orders and providing nursing care. Saddleback Medical Center is a STEMI, Stroke and Thrombectomy Capable Receiving Center. This Cardiac Recovery (CVOU) RN position includes care for the preoperative and postoperative patients in the following specialty areas: Invasive Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Vascular, Neurovascular Interventions and TAVR procedures. In addition, supports moderate sedation care provided for TEE, Cardioversions, Bronchoscopy and EBUS procedure patients.

Requirements

  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) License
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Card (BLS)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Care (ACLS)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year of Cath Lab, Vascular Lab and / or EP Lab experience preferred
  • 2 Years of Critical Care / ICU experience preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record System such as EPIC
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Specialty Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assesses health care needs. A data collection process that is systematic, includes psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and other factors and is ongoing, determined by the patient’s immediate condition or needs, and involves the patient, family, significant others, and health care providers when appropriate.
  • Analyzes the assessment data in determining diagnosis and plan of care.
  • Develops and contributes to a written plan of care to meet patient’s subtle as well as obvious nursing needs.
  • Implements the plan of care to attain expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates the patient’s outcomes. Evaluation is systematic and ongoing, is determined by the patient’s responses to the interventions, which are documented in the medical record.
  • Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care as a professional work responsibility.
  • Identifies, develops and implements an action plan for self-development/professional growth
  • Identifies subtle as well as obvious patient problems and reports to an appropriate resource person.
  • Addresses the age specific needs of all populations served: adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Ability to be at work and be on time.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
