About The Position

BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. In this role, you will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operations and the Center Physician for medical issues, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and BioLife's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, acceptance requirements, physical examinations, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing Center Physician's standing orders and coordinating donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical guidance, and donor safety and eligibility.
  • Support employee Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, referring to EHS guidance.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs.
