About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract opportunity in Utica, New York. The nurse will provide high-acuity critical care in a Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU), caring for patients with complex cardiovascular and postoperative surgical conditions. The role requires 12-hour night shifts and experience caring for fresh postoperative open-heart surgery patients.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Cardiovascular ICU or Cardiothoracic ICU nursing experience, including fresh open-heart patient experience.
• Current, active Registered Nurse license; applicable New York practice requirements must be met before starting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Epic EMR experience.
• Previous travel nursing experience.
• Availability for 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care to cardiovascular and cardiothoracic ICU patients.
• Monitor and manage fresh postoperative open-heart surgery patients and recognize changes in clinical condition.
• Care for patients with cardiovascular surgery needs, cardiogenic shock, abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and other high-acuity cardiac conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and critical care interventions while continuously evaluating patient response.
• Maintain accurate Epic documentation and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate complex patient care.
