The 21-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) at Akron General cares for adult patients suffering from acute myocardial infarctions, cardiogenic shock, respiratory arrest, life- threatening dysrhythmias, bradyarrhymias requiring emergent insertion temporary pacemakers, congestive heart failure, cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac procedure, cardiogenic shock and severe coronary artery disease. Additionally, Akron General’s CVICU also takes post-operative coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement and thoracic and vascular surgery patients. As an RN on the team, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days and hours. Working 48 hours per 6-week period will be required.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment
External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience
Internal applicants: less than two years of experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer approval for internal applicants
Will consider licensed military RN experience
