About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) High Risk OB provides patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, using outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the health care team, the nurse coordinates care and communicates and collaborates with team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The nurse maintains high standards of professional ethics. This is a per-diem, part-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Voorhees location, with a 12-hour night shift from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Direct High Risk OB experience is required.

Requirements

Valid New Jersey RN license, presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board requirements.
Direct High Risk OB experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Maintain current nursing practice through ongoing education, journals, and similar resources.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Apply standard precautions and patient safety principles.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
Coordinate patient care and collaborate with healthcare team members, patients, and their families or significant others.
