About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit (PIMC), which has 7 intermediate-care beds and 8 acute-care/intermediate-care overflow beds. The unit provides evidence-based, family-centered care to children who need close monitoring and specialized interventions but do not require intensive care. It bridges acute and critical care, caring for children with complex medical needs, including those recovering from critical illness or requiring advanced respiratory support.

The RN provides and coordinates comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. The nurse applies evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills, while helping create a safe patient environment and a positive patient experience across the continuum. The role is based at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of critical care experience is strongly preferred.
