This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the 6 Central - Surgical Specialties unit, focusing on Vascular and Bariatrics, working part-time nights with rotating weekends. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, actively involving patients and families throughout their care journey. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, and collaborating with the care team to achieve optimal outcomes. The RN is expected to uphold and promote a culture of safety, continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take necessary actions. This role may involve administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely according to clinical protocols. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential for fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. The RN is also responsible for pursuing professional development, completing required education, maintaining certifications, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics, and practicing ethical decision-making while respecting interdisciplinary roles to contribute to integrated, unbiased patient care. Appropriate delegation to other nursing personnel and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation are also critical. The position may require floating to other units or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The RN must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles across the life span to assess patient status and identify age-specific requirements.
