About The Position

The Registered Nurse for ICU/CCU ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for critically ill patients in accordance with age-related and individual needs, physician’s orders, hospital policy, standards of care and nursing practice. Responsible for assessing the needs of patients, planning nursing care to meet those needs, and ensuring that the plan of care is carried out and documented according to the principles defined in the nursing process. Participates in the development of critical care unit goals. The Intensive Care Unit is a 10-bed unit with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio for most patients. For patients that require more support, such as those who have paralysis, are on continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), have a Percutaneous Ventricular Assist Device (Impella) or intra-aortic balloon pump, we have a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. In our unit, you'll broaden your nursing skills and experience a diverse range of cases, as we care for all types of ICU-level patients. This includes post-neurosurgical patients, those with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), post-cardiac arrest cases, sepsis, and patients with liver or kidney failure. Our patient demographic is highly mixed and diverse. The work environment is described as positive, welcoming, and friendly, with personalized orientation and a supportive, collaborative atmosphere. Nursing Leadership is supportive with an open-door policy and leaders who assist on the floor.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Oregon
  • Minimum one (1) year of ICU experience or completion of Critical Care Nursing Residency Program
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, Critical Care IV medications, ECG rhythm recognition, ventilated patient management, and IV start skills
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
  • ACLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire

  • Participates in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team using effective communication and conflict management skills.
  • Uses a systematic process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in delivery of care by collaborating with the patient, family and interdisciplinary team through care plans.
  • Adapts care to accommodate unexpected changes in patient status. Communicates patient needs and changes in condition to physician, team members and/or family as necessary.
  • Provides compassionate care for patients during challenging periods or transitions in life or lifecycles with respect and dignity.
