About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Postpartum unit, working weekends only. The role involves delivering patient care using the nursing process, including data collection, assessment, identifying patient needs, and evaluating care outcomes. The RN will also coordinate patient teaching and collaborate with health team members. This includes conducting initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyzing data, creating care plans, implementing treatments, evaluating effectiveness, administering medications safely, and serving as a point of contact for care coordination. The RN will also act as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year RN experience
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing OR Diploma in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.

  • Implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures.
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
