The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process, which includes data collection and assessment, identifying and prioritizing patient problems/needs, and evaluating the process and outcome of nursing care. This role involves coordinating, providing, and directing patient teaching activities, as well as coordinating care provided by other health team members. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, the RN conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates its effectiveness. The nurse is responsible for administering medications safely, consistent with the State of Practice and organizational policies. Furthermore, the RN serves as a central point of contact for patients' care coordination across various hospital departments and acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives within the department. The professional practice model is integrated into all aspects of care delivery.
