About The Position

Reliant Medical Group, part of the Optum family, is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Urgent Care department. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient care within a community-based, physician-led organization. The nurse will be responsible for the effective delivery and management of direct patient care using the nursing process, adhering to standards of nursing practice. Care will be provided to patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatrics. Responsibilities include pre-visit and post-visit telephonic support, patient education, and documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record. Occasional visits to clinical sites may be scheduled to enhance team-based care coordination. The position is located in Worcester, MA, within the Same Day Services / Urgent Care department. The schedule involves 36 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend and holidays. This role requires approximately 25% travel to other sites, with mileage reimbursement provided.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a RN in the State of Massachusetts
  • Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on scientific and evidence-based nursing principles.
  • Collect current symptoms and detailed patient history.
  • Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Perform triage, considering both physical and psychosocial elements.
  • Conduct testing/diagnostics according to department protocol specific to chief complaint and patient condition.
  • Manage basic life support needs and stabilize patients until the attending physician is available.
  • Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
  • Record patients’ current vital signs.
  • Provide pre-visit and post-visit telephonic support and patient education.
  • Populate the Electronic Medical Record with historical information, lab findings, and preliminary orders.
  • Ad hoc visits to clinical sites to enhance coordination of team-based care.
