About The Position

These roles involve patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. May work across various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community health organizations. Responsibilities include the delivery of medical care, supporting patients and their families, and ensuring the effective functioning of healthcare teams. Requires Registered Nurse certification. These roles are responsible for caring for patients before, during, and after organ transplantation. Transplant RNs coordinate care, provide education about the transplant process, monitor for complications, and ensure patients adhere to post-transplant care regimens to promote successful outcomes. Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients. May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. ​ Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education.​ Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. ​ Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation​.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • American Board of Transplant Coordinator Certification at time of hire or within 2 years of employment.
