About The Position

The Surgical Cardiology unit at Saint Francis Hospital provides comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including dysrhythmias, atherosclerotic disease, and complex surgical interventions such as CABG, valve replacements, and TAVR procedures. The unit also supports patients recovering from thoracic, vascular, and select general surgical procedures. In this role, you will collaborate with a strong, interdisciplinary team comprised of RNs, LPNs, PA/APRNs, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and Hospitalists, with support from ancillary staff and further consultants. You will monitor, record, and respond to patients’ clinical status, assist with preoperative and postoperative care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients, and develop and implement individualized care plans, employing strategies to promote health and safe environments. You will also participate in quality improvement activities and integrate research findings into practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut.
  • BLS (AHA/ARC) required.
  • ACLS required within the first year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Previous acute care experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Cardiology settings preferred.
