About The Position

The 10T Medical Telemetry unit at Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center is a distinguished unit known for piloting innovative work and possessing a highly knowledgeable and clinically expert team. This unit has a reputation for exceptional teamwork and collaboration, evidenced by being the first choice for a dedicated COVID-19 medical-surgical unit during the pandemic, leading to staff becoming content experts. The unit has received the PRISM award from the Academy of Medical/Surgical Nurses and provides 24-hour inpatient care to adult patients (18+) with acute medical and/or surgical conditions, often with multiple co-morbidities. They manage a wide range of diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, chest pain, shortness of breath, pneumonia, fever of unknown etiology, and fluid & electrolyte imbalances. The unit has telemetry monitoring capacity for up to 16 patients and administers/monitors several cardiac drips.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • 6 months of RN experience
  • BSN required. RN candidates for external hire or internal promotion without BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of Hire/Transfer date and must complete program within 3 years of enrollment in the program.
  • Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum two years nursing experience preferred.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required within the department by the nurse leader.
