About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Short Stay Unit (.9 7p) will be responsible for providing direct patient care within the Advocate Christ Medical Center - Short Stay Receiving Unit (SSU). This full-time position requires the nurse to work 36 hours per week, typically from 7p-7a, three days a week. The role involves working weekends, holidays, and potentially taking call to ensure adequate staffing. The work environment may expose the nurse to adverse conditions while caring for patients, including potentially infectious specimens. The RN must be able to assist in patient evacuation during emergencies and respond to patients in a timely manner, accessing all areas of the unit. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and utilize patient handling equipment for heavier lifts or when patients cannot assist, often with another team member.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current IL RN license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Certification in your current area of specialty once meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Current AHA CPR.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts to accommodate staffing.
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disaster.
  • Ability to respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unit.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to use patient handling equipment for lifts over 35 pounds or when patient is unable to assist, with at least one other team member, when available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the Short Stay Receiving Unit (SSU).
