About The Position

The Rapid Response Nurse is a highly specialized RN who provides support and direct nursing interventions during high acuity situations. This team member's main purpose is to improve the experience of critically ill patients throughout the different clinical areas, establishing optimal levels of care and improved outcomes. This team member serves as an expert resource for unit staff with regards to Code Blues including intubations, Rapid Responses, Massive Transfusion Protocol, stroke alerts, hyperbaric dives and other critical events. Makes independent decisions/judgments and takes actions regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient problems and situations. Collaborates with unit leadership in managing acute patient care events and situations. Partners with the various clinical teams to provide the necessary interventions to ensure the best patient outcomes and best patient experience in the safest environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of Illinois
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in Critical Care

Nice To Haves

  • Charge experience preferred
  • Nationally accredited nursing certification (CCRN) preferred
