The Registered Nurse/RN in Radiology is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing quality, compassionate care by maintaining standards of professional nursing practice and creating positive therapeutic relationships with patients and families. This role also involves providing leadership to other team members by articulating expected standards of care, supervising and encouraging team members, and supporting their contributions. The nurse will assess patients' conditions, develop and implement care plans, and monitor patient care delivery within the Imaging Department. They will prioritize customer and patient satisfaction, utilize AIDET principles, and collaborate with other departments to provide excellent care. The role requires adherence to DCH Health System policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment, administering medications and treatments, and possessing knowledge of contrast media and sedation. The nurse will also assist physicians with procedures, monitor patients, report observations, and initiate emergency measures when necessary. This position involves managing inventory, communicating needs, and adapting to various staffing locations (Inpatient, ED, Outpatient, Northport). The role may require call duty during off-hours and involves wearing lead aprons for extended periods. Patient and family education, responsible stewardship of resources, and accurate documentation are key aspects of this role. The nurse will assign and delegate nursing care, functioning proficiently with minimal supervision.
