About The Position

The RN-Sepsis Program Manager is a market level position reporting to the Chief Quality Officer of Prisma Health. This position leads the development, implementation, and oversight of Prisma Health’s regional sepsis program for applicable clinical sites within the defined market. Key responsibilities include identifying care variation opportunities, validating SEP-1 data abstraction, maintaining population specific sepsis initiatives, and supporting prehospital care quality assurance. The role also involves compiling and updating annual sepsis education, managing the sepsis toolkit and program charter, and serving as a liaison for EMS education. This role works closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams, driving rapid-cycle improvement, developing action plans, and collaborating with corporate and campus-level stakeholders. Additional duties include EMR tool development, addressing urgent opportunities for improvement, and serving as a subject matter expert for quality and safety reviews. Data analysis and dissemination of current sepsis standards to key stakeholders are essential. This role will also engage with internal and external research collaborations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Business or Healthcare Administration, or related health care field
  • Three (3) years-in Nursing.
  • Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in intensive care or ED Nursing preferred.
  • Experience working with Excel, databases preferred
  • Experience working with patients with a diagnosis of sepsis in an ICU setting or ED setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Guide the market-level development of the Prisma Health sepsis program
  • Variance reviews for regional sepsis care opportunities
  • QA for prehospital sepsis care initiatives
  • Independent validation of SEP-1 data abstraction (CMS-defined Sepsis Early Management measure).
  • Pediatric sepsis program maintenance
  • Action plan development
  • Rapid cycle change engineer
  • In-person presence at campus level for engagement with team-member and leaders
  • EMR tool development and review for navigators, order sets, Best Practice Alerts (BPAs), etc.
  • Addressing urgent opportunities for improvement (OFIs) in a timely manner
  • Regional sepsis leader across multidisciplinary team with focus on ensuring each stakeholder is well represented
  • Keep up to date with current sepsis practice standards and relay relevant information to key stakeholders
  • SME for campus quality leads who lead sepsis task forces (ensures continuance of task force in leadership vacuum)
  • SME for patient safety reviews related to sepsis care
  • Ad-hoc SME meeting attendance for Comprehensive Sepsis Center (CSC) work
  • Campus quality presentations of current sepsis work
  • Data compilation for sepsis care (observed mortality, hospice dispositions, means of arrival, etc.)
  • Data synthesis and analysis (identifying trends in sepsis care, pathway adherence, etc.)
  • Researcher for collaborative efforts both inside and outside institution (graduate degree required)
  • Annual sepsis education compilation, review, and updates
  • Pre-hospital liaison and education for sepsis care delivery
  • Development and maintenance of sepsis toolkit/program charter
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
