In the 25‑bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), you will provide comprehensive, high acuity care to infants, children, and adolescents with complex and life-threatening conditions. This is a fast paced, highly collaborative environment where strong clinical judgment and adaptability are essential. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct, patient centered critical care utilizing advanced assessment and intervention skills
- Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilatory support, vasoactive infusions, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Perform continuous reassessment, identifying subtle changes and initiating timely interventions
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide compassionate support and education to families navigating complex and emotional care experiences
- Participate in evidence-based practice, quality improvement initiatives, and academic collaboration
- Contribute to a unit culture that prioritizes clinical excellence, teamwork, and ongoing professional development
