About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, focusing on the Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program. The role involves providing complex care to pediatric patients and their families who are preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, as well as those with pediatric hematology/oncology, urology, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders. The unit has 24 beds and cares for patients with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 to 1:4. The nurse will perform advanced monitoring, manage sophisticated medication and infusion therapies, care for patients undergoing procedures, and operate unit equipment safely. The hospital is recognized for its pediatric programs and is the oldest academic children's hospital in Minnesota.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • 1+ years of Acute RN, Inpatient Pediatric BMT and/or Heme/Onc Experience Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • Chemo Certified Preferred
  • Pediatric, BMT, or Heme/Onc Certifications
  • IMC Vent Training or Enrolled

Responsibilities

  • Provides complex care to pediatric patient/families preparing for and undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, pediatric hematology-oncology, urology, blood and marrow, metabolic, and gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Performs advanced monitoring using current technology.
  • Manages sophisticated medication and infusion therapies.
  • Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit.
  • Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.
