About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric ACH House Supervisor role is a full-time position within the 34102 ACH Enterprise - Nursing Float Pool. This role operates on a 7p-7a schedule, requiring weekend and holiday availability. The pay range for this position is $41.10 - $61.65. The House Supervisor acts as a resource for staff concerning patient clinical problems, clinical situations like medical alerts, admissions, transfers, and monitoring unstable patients. They also serve as a resource for patient-related service problems, collaborating with Providers for optimal patient care and resource utilization. This role involves supporting staff in problem-solving patient service and unit issues, acting as a patient advocate by responding to concerns and performing service recovery. The House Supervisor initiates investigations into patient safety events and medication errors, ensuring proper documentation and corrective action plans. They also act as a resource for patient-related systems problems and serve as a liaison to ensure optimal patient care processes. Collaboration with nurse managers, department managers, medical staff, and hospital administration is key to facilitating quality care. Identifying trends in system problems and notifying management is also a responsibility. The role assists with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provides direction for patient transfers and staff reassignment in collaboration with the patient command center. Database documentation is required, as is responding to public relations issues, maintaining guest relations, and alerting relevant personnel to potential patient/hospital situations. The House Supervisor ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards and requirements. In the absence of the AOC or Administrative Leader, they act as the incident commander. They also intervene during the absence of the Safety Officer and/or Patient Safety Officer when conditions immediately threaten life, health, equipment, or buildings. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs. Collaboration with management and human resources is necessary for addressing disciplinary matters.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in clinical nursing with demonstrated clinical expertise.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making and listening skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during work shift.
  • Must have functional sight and hearing.
  • Must be able to: lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to: - push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids; therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Participates, observes and/or acts as a resource to staff for patient related clinical problems.
  • Participates, observes and /or acts as a resource in clinical situations such as medical alerts: arrest, rapid response, admissions, transfers, and clinical monitoring of unstable patients.
  • Participates, observes and/or acts as a resource to staff for patient related service problems.
  • Collaborates with Providers to ensure optimal patient care and effective utilization of resources.
  • Provides support for staff to effectively problem solve patient service issues and unit issues.
  • Acts as a patient advocate by responding and intervening in patient and visitor concerns, performing service recovery, as needed.
  • Initiates investigation of patient safety events and medication errors, ensures proper documentation and a corrective action plan is in place.
  • Participates, observes and acts as a resource for staff regarding patient related systems problems.
  • Acts as a liaison for staff to ensure processes are in place for patients to receive an optimal level of patient care.
  • Collaborates with nurse managers, department managers, medical staff and hospital administration to facilitate the provision of quality care.
  • Identify trends in system problems and notifies the unit and/or department manager of the issue.
  • Assists with patient admission, transfer and discharge to facilitate timely process throughout the system.
  • Provides direction, in collaboration with the patient command center on patient transfers and/or reassigns staff to accommodate admissions, if need is identified.
  • Completes appropriate database documentation.
  • Responds to internal and external public relations issues, maintaining guest relations rapport with staff, public and media, which includes alerting public relations and site administrators of potential patient/hospital situations, directing media to public relations as appropriate and fielding outside telephone inquiries, complaints and/or problems with proper referral.
  • Ensures compliance with standards and requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Acts as the incident commander, in the absence of the AOC or Administrative Leader.
  • Serves as individual to intervene during the absence of the Safety Officer and/or Patient Safety Officer whenever conditions immediately threaten life or health or threaten damage to equipment or buildings.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with management and human resources staff to address matters of a disciplinary nature.
