About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Surgery Holding department at Atrium Health University City. The role involves providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care using the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care. The nurse will utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills to ensure the safest patient environment and best patient experience. The facility is a community-based hospital with 9 Operating Rooms, offering services in Orthopedics, Robotic, General, Urology, and Gynecology procedures. It is the only Atrium facility with the AORN Go Clear designation for managing surgical smoke plume. The team is described as small, close-knit, and enjoys camaraderie, with collaborative surgeons. Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of previous PACU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
  • Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
  • Start in Pre-op and float to PACU as needed.
  • Participate in rotating weeknight and weekend call.
