About The Position

This role involves providing clinical support to providers and patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. The position requires patient care, vital signs monitoring, assisting providers, performing laboratory tests, quality control, and clinical intake and triage. Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Registered Nurse Program (for RN).
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding (for RN).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
  • Graduated from an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program (for LPN).
  • Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia prior to onboarding (for LPN).
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50 pounds.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Room patient and complete intake and data collection process per protocols.
  • Gather preliminary intake including patient history and input into the medical record system prior to visit for physician review.
  • Complete UPG scribe training to document services provided, orders, medications, and other activities performed by Licensed Independent Providers in real-time during patient encounters.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of medical supplies and/or vaccines for the practice.
  • Act as a preceptor for entry-level clinicians.
  • Perform advanced skills such as establishing IV access and Urinary Catheterization.
  • Perform clinical prep to review records and studies, along with schedules, and ensure patients are scheduled appropriately.
  • Administer medications: Oral, compounded and non-compounded IM injections, intradermal and SQ injections, premixed immunizations/vaccinations.
  • Perform venipuncture and ambulatory procedures within scope of practice.
  • Perform laboratory duties including point-of-care testing (POCT) and quality control indicators, and prepare forms.
  • Manage EMR requirements including in-basket, phone call intake, and prescription preparation.
  • Perform clinical intake via rooming and telephone encounters.
  • Maintain medical instruments and ensure clinical areas are appropriately stocked and cleaned.
  • Document and charge capture for services rendered in the Medical Record.
  • Organize and prioritize patient care activities considering the needs of the patients and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Implement age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient’s needs as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic experience.
  • Provide for a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in the delivery of patient care.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Train in specialty clinics associated with the practice and be cross-trained to function in multiple roles (LPN specific).
  • Specialize in clinical intake and take opportunities to develop and mentor others and train (LPN specific).
