About The Position

This position involves delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process, including data collection, assessment, identification of patient problems and needs, and evaluation of care. The role also includes coordinating and directing patient teaching and collaborating with health team members. The Registered Nurse (RN) or Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS) will work in the Cath Lab at Roper Hospital. The position requires a minimum of 1 year of experience and involves rotating shifts with call duties. The role emphasizes patient safety and quality improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience.
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required).
  • Associate of Nursing, nursing (required) OR Diploma in Nursing (required).
  • Graduate of accredited school of cardiovascular science, or Graduate from accredited school of Radiologic Technology (RT), or Meets education provisions required to obtain RCIS through CCI and SC Board of Medical Examiners and has already received those credentials.
  • Minimum amount of experience to get required licensure/certifications/registrations outlined below is required.
  • Must maintain active Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Registration with the SC Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Must maintain active RCIS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Must maintain active American Heart Association BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider.
  • RTs must also be registered in Radiologic Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART).

Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process through data collection and assessment.
  • Identifies and determines the priority of patient’s problems/needs.
  • Evaluates the process and outcome of nursing care.
  • Coordinates, provides and directs patient teaching activities.
  • Coordinates the care provided by health team members.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Administers medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and organization policies and procedures.
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Incorporates the professional practice model into care delivery.
