About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Neuro Science provides nursing care in the 20-bed Neuro Science unit at Frye Regional Medical Center. The unit cares for patients with conditions and procedures including spine, neck, and head surgery, stroke, and seizure. Nurses work alongside experienced leaders and an interdisciplinary team. The position offers self-scheduling and 12-hour shifts, with an every-other-weekend rotation.

The RN assesses patients, identifies care needs, initiates appropriate nursing interventions, and provides care suited to each patient’s condition and age. The role also includes documenting medical necessity in the medical record, completing and revising each patient’s Interdisciplinary Care Plan, and performing quality-improvement assessments.

Requirements

• Current state RN license.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 1–2 years of Neuro/Ortho RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provide care appropriate to the patient’s condition and age.
• Complete timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Perform timely and accurate quality-improvement assessments.
