Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – FT Nights
About The Position
This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Texas Health Dallas. The unit is a 35-bed Cardiac/Neuro Intermediate Unit that specializes in neurological conditions, spinal surgeries, and cardiovascular patients requiring a higher level of care in a non-ICU setting. It is a high acuity telemetry/PCU unit with standard nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures. The nurse will also maintain continuity of patient care and initiate actions to meet patient information needs.
Requirements
- Diploma of Nursing OR Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Required
- RN must practice within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, serve as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator, and coordinator for quality patient care.
- Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted OR Nursing Diploma
- BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (AHA) upon hire Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required
- CPI-Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 60 days of hire is required
Nice To Haves
- BSN Preferred
- (1) year Stepdown, Progressive Care or Intermediate (Tele) Care RN experience or three (2) years of Telemetry experience in an acute care hospital preferred
- PCCN-Progressive Care Certified Nurse is preferred not required
- SCRN - Stroke Certified Registered Nurse is preferred not required
Responsibilities

- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
