As an RN on 6 North in the Neuro Intermediate Care Unit, you will provide hands-on care for a complex patient population requiring close observation and specialized neurologic management. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive bedside care for patients requiring step-down level neurologic monitoring
- Perform frequent, detailed neurologic assessments, recognizing and escalating subtle changes in condition
- Manage patients across a wide range of complex neurologic diagnoses, including central nervous system tumors, complex spine surgery, acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, endovascular interventions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, neuromuscular diseases, status epilepticus, and central nervous system infections
- Collaborate closely with neurology, neurosurgery, and neurocritical care teams to coordinate and adjust care plans
- Administer medications and therapies requiring precision within a specialized neuro-focused environment
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and long-term neurologic care needs
- Contribute to a team culture built on communication, accountability, and continuous clinical learning
