About The Position
The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit is a state-of-the-art, 24-bed facility dedicated to the treatment of patients recovering from complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions, as well as those requiring post-operative neurosurgical care. This unit is a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as among the top 10% in the country for Neurology & Neurosurgery and Stroke care. Highly skilled clinical professionals from various disciplines provide continuous, comprehensive care to patients following intricate neurosurgical procedures or facing life-threatening neurological disorders. The unit employs a patient-centered approach, offering extensive neurological services that support seamless continuity of care through teamwork, compassion, innovation, education, and research. Nursing staff are proficient in operating diverse ICU equipment, including tubes, lines, drains, invasive hemodynamic monitoring devices, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Specialized interventions include management of EVD and SEPS drains, post-thrombolytic care, and post-interventional radiology care.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
Responsibilities
- Providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
