About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, which includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The RN incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care, initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. This role also focuses on the delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. The department is a 22-bed Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit that cares for Stroke, MSOF patients, CRRT, Vent-patients, and all forms of life support, as well as patients in the Brain Tumor and Spine program. Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required.
  • 1-year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • ICU experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ICU experience preferred.
