The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, which includes assessing the patient, planning the care of the patient, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions. The RN incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care, initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers. This role also focuses on the delivery of high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. The department is a 22-bed Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit that cares for Stroke, MSOF patients, CRRT, Vent-patients, and all forms of life support, as well as patients in the Brain Tumor and Spine program.
