About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Neuro Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join a high-acuity Adult Neuro ICU team. The ideal candidate will have recent Neuro ICU experience, strong critical care skills, and experience working in large acute care hospitals or Level I Trauma Centers. This position requires a nurse who can independently manage critically ill neurological patients while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment.

Requirements

  • Current New York State RN License/Registration.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience within the past 2 years.
  • Minimum 1 year of Neuro ICU experience required.
  • Previous experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
  • Previous experience in a Level I Trauma Center environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal orientation and supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospitals of similar or larger size and acuity preferred for travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neurological patients in the Neuro ICU.
  • Perform detailed neurological assessments and continuous patient monitoring.
  • Manage patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), intracranial hemorrhage, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and other complex neurological conditions.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and critical care interventions as prescribed.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, neurological status, laboratory values, and diagnostic results.
  • Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system.
  • Respond effectively to patient emergencies and changes in condition.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based nursing practices.
