About The Position

Mother friendly designated, a Texas 10-Step designated, and a Magnet designated facility. Work hours: PRN Level II: On an as needed basis (7PM-7AM) – Minimum of 3 shifts per 6-week schedule, 1 Weekend shift per 6-week schedule, and 1 major & 1 minor holiday shift per year; During Training – prefer 2 shifts per week. Neonatal ICU/NICU Department highlights: Self-Scheduling that helps with work/life balance as well as opportunities for educational and career growth. Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. Our team is like a family with a newly expanded Level III Neonatal ICU/NICU unit with 16-beds – utilizing CPAP, Bubble CPAP, vents, & oscillators and working with Feeders/Growers as well.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma required
  • One-year experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN is preferred
  • One year of Neonatal ICU/NICU Level III RN experience strongly preferred.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days is required
  • NRPA - Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program 90 Days Required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
