About The Position

This is a PRN (as needed) position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical unit at Saline Memorial Hospital, which is part of Lifepoint Health. The Medical Surgical unit spans two floors and has 60 beds. The team delivers high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process in alignment with established scope and standards of practice. This role reports directly to the Department Director or Manager.

Requirements

  • Current state or compact state RN license.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • One-year previous experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred within one year of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred within one year of hire.
  • NRP preferred within one year of hire.
  • Handle with Care preferred within one year of hire.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties as assigned and requested.
  • Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient’s condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
  • Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
  • Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
  • Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
  • Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
  • Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly.
  • Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and continuing education.
  • Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
