Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical (Telemetry) Full Time Nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical (Telemetry) position is a full-time night shift role at Texas Health Plano. This role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse will incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures, maintain continuity of patient care, and provide education to patients and their significant others. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, a Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement and a Primary Heart Attack Center. The Medical Surgical Department is a 22-bed Medical Surgical Telemetry unit with a 1:5 RN to patient ratio and 1 PCT for every 10-11 patients.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program; nursing diploma
- 1 year experience as a registered nurse or completion of a RN residency program
- RN Nurse Upon Hire Required
- BCLS - prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- Experience as preceptor and/or charge nurse highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient

- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
