About The Position

Southern Tennessee Regional Health System - Pulaski is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit. This full-time day shift position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants. The role involves providing direct patient care, performing interventions, administering medications, collecting specimens, and documenting patient care. The Med Surg RN will also monitor and communicate patient conditions, assist patients with daily living activities, collaborate with other disciplines for patient care, and provide patient/family education. The position requires advocating for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. The unit is described as a friendly, family-oriented environment with strong teamwork and supportive leadership.

Requirements

  • Current Tennessee or compact state RN license.
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire.
  • Handle With Care (HWC) within 6 months of hire.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or a licensed Registered Nurse from a Compact State with the proper Tennessee paperwork filed within 30 days of hire.

  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
