The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth is responsible for delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process. This includes assessing the patient, planning their care, intervening as appropriate, and evaluating the effectiveness of those interventions. The RN will incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiate actions to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information, and maintain continuity of patient care between shifts, hospitals, and during transfers. The department is a 22-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, handling MSOF patients, ECMO, CRRT, vent patients, and all forms of life support. The average length of service for RNs in this department is 11 years. This is a Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility.
