About The Position

This is a part-time Registered Nurse position in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The MICU is a 22-bed unit that cares for patients requiring MSOF, ECMO, CRRT, vent support, and all forms of life support. The department is a Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility, known for its high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills. The unit offers self-scheduling to promote work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth, supported by a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. This is a high acuity, high volume department.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
  • Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • ACLS – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
  • Current ICU and/or PCU experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
