About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Med/Surg 8 Unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank Campus in Minneapolis, MN. The Med/Surg RN will provide care to medical surgical adult patients with medical conditions that require close observation, monitoring, and interventions. Our unit is comprised of 24 Beds. Care Delivery: 4-5 patient assignment. 5-6 patient assignment on Night Shift. Our team is prepared to work with a variety of adult patient diagnoses including: Sepsis, Overdoses/Withdrawals, Surgical Procedures, Telemetry, Diabetes, Pneumonia, Altered Mental Status (AMS), And more! Adaptability, willingness to learn, and critical thinking skills are all important to be successful in this position. We are looking for someone who will excel in a fast-paced environment, someone who knows how to problem solve, who is flexible and collaborative, and who is dedicated to always putting the patient first.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN)
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN License from MN Board of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher

Responsibilities

  • The RN is responsible and accountable for patient assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention application, and the identification and evaluation of outcomes for patients of all ages and populations.
  • Prioritizing, delegating, and maintaining oversight of duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
  • Maintaining confidentiality in matters related to patient, family, and facility.
  • Establishing and implementing nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and re prioritizes care accordingly.
  • Demonstrating the ability to deliver care or service by adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Collaborating with patients, families, and health care team members.
