About The Position

As a Registered Nurse (RN) on our Medical/Surgical unit, you’ll play a vital role in improving community health while working in a supportive, team‑focused environment. This is an acute care medical‑surgical unit with a 24‑bed capacity, a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, and a 1:10 CA-to-nurse ratio. The unit serves a diverse patient population including medical, surgical, testing, and observation patients, with common comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, stroke, renal, and psychiatric conditions. The team fosters a strong culture, improved nurse communication, and a commitment to Sovah Health core values.

Requirements

• A nursing degree from a nursing school (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• A current VA (or Multi-state) RN license
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support

• Experience in clinical area preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
