About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Med-Surg Nurse Manager. The Staff RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on the nursing unit according to established policies, procedures and guidelines. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers in the implementation of the patient’s plan of care. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

RN: Registered Nurse
BLS: Basic Life Support (Within 1 month of hire or transfer)
ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Within 1 year of hire or transfer)
FINGERPRINT: Fingerprinting
TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Aggression Mgt (Within 6 months of hire or transfer)
Associates Degree in Nursing required.
Two years general Medical-Surgical/Charge Nurse experience required.
Good basic clinical skills in delivering care in an acute care facility.
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co-workers.
Demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Completing nursing assessment of patient and documenting appropriately in the patient chart.
Develops a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
Implements plan of care and documents in the chart.
Evaluates patient’s response to care and updates plan of care.
Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff.
Engages in patient/family teaching as appropriate.
Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and Performance Improvement activities.
Communicates with the Health Care Team.
Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
Participates in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
