About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med/Surg 7B unit at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This position will be working 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks) on the overnight shift with 12-hour shifts and will also work every third rotation. The 7B unit is a 22-bed unit that provides care for adult patients undergoing Thoracic Surgery, Urology Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, and those with Cystic Fibrosis or General Medicine needs. The University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) is an integrated academic health care system and the flagship facility of Fairview, providing breakthrough medicine and redefining the health of our community. The Nurse Residency Program is designed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world clinical practice for new grad/novice nurses, offering a structured learning environment with mentorship, networking opportunities, and hands-on clinical experiences, including piloting virtual reality. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s) in accordance with policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with the health care team and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
