Registered Nurse (RN) Main PACU
About The Position
Inova Fairfax Hospital's Main Tower PACU is currently seeking a Full-Time PACU experienced registered nurse to support various shift times. This dynamic perianesthesia care unit (PACU) serves a wide variety of surgical patients from ambulatory to critical care, including level one trauma patients. The surgical population includes ENT, general, colorectal, neurosurgery, orthopedic, plastics (both cosmetic and trauma), thoracic, transplants, and urology. The unit serves the entire age continuum from pediatric to geriatric patients. Nurses in this unit care for the perianesthesia patient throughout all phases including Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2, and can rotate as needed. As vital members of the multidisciplinary team, nurses on this unit are specially trained to assist anesthesiologists with placement of regional nerve blocks.
Requirements
- 1 year of PACU or Critical Care (ICU/ED) nursing experience
- Basic Life Support through AHA
- Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate’s Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

- 2 years of PACU and/or critical care nursing experience (ICU or ED)
Responsibilities
- Care for the perianesthesia patient throughout all phases including Preop, Phase 1, and Phase 2.
- Rotate as needed to fit the needs of the unit.
- Assist anesthesiologists with placement of regional nerve blocks.
