Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license in Texas in good standing.
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 1 year experience in maternal-child health of neonatal care.
Responsibilities
- The Lactation Consultant RN is a licensed registered nurse with specialized training and certification in lactation management.
- This role provides education, support, and consultation to breastfeeding mothers and their families, promoting successful initiation and continuation of breastfeeding during the hospital stay and after discharge.
- The Lactation Consultant serves as a clinical resource to healthcare staff, supports evidence-based practice, and contributes to improved patient outcomes in maternal-infant health.
